Sugar Cookies (Inspired by Sister)

The Obama Inauguration Day Sugar Cookies my sister made looked so delicious (not to mention full of hope for our nation's future) that I was inspired to try to make some sugar cookies of my own. Albeit with pink sprinkles instead of politically charged frosting:

I think they would have been better with frosting. They're a little bitter for my taste. The recipe called for nutmeg, which I left out, but my instincts told me to add orange zest as a substitute and I didn't, which was def. a mistake. The base dough is ok, I think, just needs the orange zest and maybe another egg or so. And FROSTING!
