My hardest challenge to veganism so far came last Tuesday, when I didn't have time to pack a lunch and drove by a brand new jimmy john's on my way to campus. "I bet they deliver to campus..." I thought wistfully, imagining my jimmy john's favorite: the italian night club on 7 grain. All salted meats!
I managed to resist though... I ate some leftover celery, cherries, and cashews that were hanging out in the lab, then came home and doused myself in edamame and sriracha.
This week was my menstrual week, and I will say this: going grocery shopping (non-vegan) when menstruating is AWESOME: You see a bag of oreos, know you can eat them ALL, buy them, and sacrifice them to the bottomless pit in your stomach. Going grocery shopping while vegan during a menstrual week succckkkksssssss. You are just dying for some fat and sugar and all there is around is vegetables. The best I was able to do was to buy some light chocolate soy milk, which today I blended with some bananas.
I also found some spicy organic kimchi called "raw slaw". It is satisfactorily spicy.
Total weight loss: 6.6 lbs. I lost 1.6 lbs in a menstrual week!
